Car Rental

A number of major international car hire companies operate from Toulouse Airport. If you're planning to arrive late at night, then it's best to check the opening hours of rental company offices. Toulouse is a relatively small city and easily accessible by foot. However, a car is an especially useful mode of transport if you're planning to travel outside the city and explore the spreading Toulouse metropolitan area. The region is well served by an extensive road network.

Metro

Toulouse's rather sleek, modern metro system has recently been extended to two lines and 18 stations. The system is fully automated, so there is no driver or conductor. Metro train transport operates to a regular timetable and stations are enhanced by a contemporary work of art displayed in each one. Ticket and information kiosks can be found at Marengo and Basso-Cambo metro stations and also at the Place du Capitole.

Taxis

There is plenty of standard taxi transport to be found in Toulouse. Taxi stands are located at the railway station, on the Place Wilson and at the Place Esquirol, providing convenient travel on a 24-hour basis. In addition, Toulouse has special 'tourist taxis'. These bear the sign, 'Taxi Touristique de Toulouse', and offer guided tours of the city in English or French.
